Episode 14: Engineering-grade polymers for high-performance applications

Matt Griffin speaks with Steve Serpe of Arkema about the company’s High-Performance Materials segment. The segment includes 3D printing materials made with engineering-grade polymers suited to exhibit resistance to harsh chemicals, high temperatures, and UV exposure.

Steve works within Arkema’s North American presence, at its research center in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania – a region known for chemical and pharmaceutical development. There, Arkema operates a center of excellence focused on FFF extrusion printing. Steve, a chemical engineer with an MBA, work to build bridges between Arkema's scientists and its customers, helping identify the right performance materials suited to applications for industries including automotive, sports and electronics.

Arkema is headquartered in Colombes, France, but operates out of 136 production facilities and 13 research centers in Europe, North America, and Asia. Arkema works within many additive manufacturing technologies, with a strong presence in FFF, SLS, powder bed fusion powders, and photocurable resins for SLA and DLP. Its AM platform, 3D Printing Solutions by Arkema, unites the company’s various additive teams, enabling them to collaborate as a cross-business unit.
