Episode 34: Joshua Sacris, RMIT Racing - Introduced by Kae Woei Lim, Creative Director, Imaginables
In this week’s episode, host Matt Griffin sits down with Kae Woei Lim, Creative Director of Imaginables, who shares the Imaginables approach to helping customers adopt additive manufacturing in Australia out of their Melbourne-based office. Kae Woei introduces customer Joshua Sacris of RMIT Racing to offer insight into the value they have seen clearly demonstrated for FFF technology within university education, a crucial segment for additive in Australia, and for Imaginables as a company.
In the second half of the episode, Joshua Sacris shares his experiences leveraging 3D printing towards race car development while participating in his university’s Formula SAE team, RMIT Racing. He outlines how his initial impulse to join the Formula SAE team in order to get hands-on experience then led to a profound dedication to the racing industry and automotive, changing the trajectory of his career after university.
As Kae Woei notes in this episode: “A lot of young engineers are getting access to 3D printing at an early age. [As a result], in the next 3, 5, 10 years’ time, 3D printing won’t be a novelty type of technology. The new workforce is more inclined to use 3D printing in their workflows and see how they can implement it into their businesses.”
